Food, pollen and pet dander are other <a href=\"https:\/\/carolinapinesent.com\/allergy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">well-known allergic triggers.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Additional causes include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Reaction to heat or cold<\/li><li>Medications<\/li><li>Stress<\/li><li>Pressure on the skin, such as from tight clothing<\/li><li>Sunlight exposure<\/li><li>Atopy, the genetic tendency to develop allergy diseases, can make a child more susceptible to chronic hives.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In some cases, the cause of either acute or chronic urticaria is unknown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-to-treat\">How to Treat<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If your child comes home from playing at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.icrc.net\/parks\/melvin-park\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Melvin Park<\/a> with hives, don\u2019t panic. It\u2019s likely you can treat any discomfort they are experiencing at home. They may prescribe stronger antihistamines or steroid medication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If your child\u2019s hives are severe or accompanied by other symptoms like swelling of the lips, mouth or throat or difficulty breathing seek medical attention right away. This may be a sign they are experiencing anaphylaxis, a severe allergic reaction that can be life-threatening if not treated promptly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"seeing-an-allergist\">Seeing an Allergist<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you know a certain type of food or medication is causing your child\u2019s hives your doctor will recommend you avoid exposure to prevent future reactions.
